Giulia - A Well-Aged Italian Red-Head

///Driven

What a time machine. 1970 Giulia. One of the prettiest bricks ever designed. And that's how you know the Italians can truly make a great looking car.

This little Sport is the first car of an inspiring young Greek guy, a friend. His knowledge and calm attitude makes you understand why he can afford to live with an old Alfa. The 130hp, 52 year old saloona with her very mechanical-feeling box of gears, and lack of communication from the steering wheel will always make you understand a little bit more about what driving was about for the old Italian petrolhead of the 60s and 70s. There is a weird sense that the whole car is ready for a race track, but that it was given soft bushings to make sure it could be used every day on Greek Italian roads.

Practicality

It's easier to ski in mud with tennis racket shoes, uphill than it is to understand what the steering wheel is trying to say. But thankfully, you have great visibility, helping you see where you are going, approximately. The back is great though, tight and simple in feeling, enough to feel the rear wheels spin through your seat, and the design looks so good with its curved edges, which it should for those passing you while you're waiting on the side of the road for Roadside Assistance. The inside is spacious enough to enjoy some privacy with your wife until it arrives.

Lato Alfa Romeo

Late 60's Italians made food unforgettable. The chefs focused on making the most out of the new technology derived from WWII and the hunger they were used to. In addition to that, the surge in women which entered the workforce during and after the war, meant they had less time to cook at home. Hence the attention to detail in making food quickly, simply, and tastefully. Alfa Romeo mechanics did the same with engines.

Most of you know they never worked. Other than when they did; Which was surprising and nerve-racking, but the suspense is part of the thrill. They treated great engines like great food. Beautiful touches to a simple recipe, but rushed enough to eat in time before going to their actual job. (And a lot of oil spills).

Giulia the redhead is a 10/10. She's so pretty, and crazy enough to know she's real. I adore this car, I adored shooting it, and I savored the driving experience.

What a little friend this car is.
